Learning Objectives:
- Understand the various factors that contribute to the development and clinical presentation of pediatric and adult acne in skin of color.
- Explore the importance of early diagnosis and management of pediatric acne in skin of color to prevent scarring, long-term skin complications, and psychological impact.
- Identify best practices for acne counseling for pediatric patients with skin of color and their families.

Dr. Candrice R. Heath (Dr. Candrice) is a highly respected triple board-certified dermatologist and nationally recognized author, speaker and expert in dermatology for children and adults. Dr. Candrice has a warm personality that her patients adore and has excelled in a variety of environments including private practice, academics and dermatology clinical research. After receiving her undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and her medical degree from the University of Virginia, she went on to complete her pediatric training at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Candrice completed her dermatology training at Mt. Sinai St. Luke’s, Roosevelt and Beth Israel medical centers in New York City. Dr. Candrice was selected chief dermatology resident during her final year of training. he served in a dual role at Johns Hopkins University Dermatology – pediatric dermatology fellow and dermatology instructor.
Dr. Candrice is currently in practice at a university-based dermatology department in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Candrice is a high-energy speaker who shares her dermatology expertise with a large variety of audiences. She has spoken in both intimate and large-scale settings including but not limited to the American Academy of Dermatology, National Medical Association, Avon Research & Development Headquarters, Frontline Skin Cancer Education Conference, Student National Medical Association, Hot Topics in Pediatric & Dermatology Conference, Dermatologic Society of Greater New York, Essence Festival and more. Additionally, Dr. Candrice works as an industry consultant, including working research and development of pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Candrice is dedicated to taking the education she gives patients everyday and delivering it to hard-working, busy, multi-tasking individuals on the go. As an expert in skin of color,equipping the medical professional community with the tools they need to deliver culturally mpetent care to patients of color with hair, skin and nail issues is part of her mission. Her bedside manner, fun personality and ability to connect with patients of all ages makes her a true gem. Dr. Candrice loves designing platinum level skincare regiment.
