SOCS Serves Committee
The SOCS Serves Committee is responsible for guiding, developing, and supporting the implementation of the Skin of Color Society’s service initiatives through a structured, member-led program with two core branches: 1) The Pathway, and 2) The Community. The Pathway branch focuses on strengthening the dermatology pipeline by inspiring and supporting students (K-12) to pursue careers in medicine, while the Community branch advances outreach efforts that increase dermatologic literacy, address health disparities, and expand education within underserved populations.
Anchored in service, the committee identifies opportunities, establishes strategic priorities, and equips SOCS members with the tools and resources needed to lead impactful initiatives locally and globally. Through collaboration, program oversight, and active member engagement, the SOCS Serves Committee ensures that these efforts are aligned, scalable, and sustainable. The committee promotes early interest in medicine among school-aged students, helping them envision future careers in healthcare, including dermatology, while advancing community education and health literacy in skin of color dermatology and ensuring that service remains a central component of the Society’s mission.
